This Tech Interview Setup Really P*SSES Me Off!

A viewer wrote in asking about how to navigate their most recent interview rejection. And let's be honest here -- this stuff is super hard to navigate with a positive spin.

What happened in their interview? What could they do better? What else might be going on?

Engineering Management Is Being Gatekept?! - Engineering Manager AMA

So you're interested in heading down the people management path in an engineering manager role? Well...

You won't like it. It's sooooo much work. Trust me, you'd be better at something else. We'll talk about it when you're a senior or principal.

Does any of that sound familiar? Why the HECK are managers gatekeeping the EM role?! Let's talk about it.

As with all livestreams, I'm looking forward to answering YOUR questions! So join me live and ask in the chat, or you can comment now and I can try to get it answered while I stream.

My Advice For Early In Career Software Engineers

I had the pleasure of sitting down with some early-in-career Microsoft software engineers to share with them my perspectives on career management.

One thing that I always need to remind developers: You're in the driver's seat of your career!

Are You Being SET UP by Your Engineering Manager?

For this video, we're headed over to the Experienced Devs subreddit to discuss a post about managers who don't give feedback. Not only that, they BLAME you after!

REALLY? These AI Agents Are Replacing Software Engineers?

While on a little staycation from work, I decided to ramp up my usage of AI agents in my coding. I played around with Cursor AI and VS Code to help me refactor some code in BrandGhost.

The results? Let's see if my job remains safe...

Staycation Update: Content Creation, Coding, and Burnout

I'm on staycation! After 5 months of a pretty hefty project, I am taking a vacation to catch up on things and hopefully wind down on the feeling of burnout.

What will I be doing?

Working... On my own stuff :)

Configure Docker with Redis and C# in 10 Minutes!

I've put out a bunch of videos now on data access patterns in C#, and one of the exciting things we have to work with in ASP NET Core is of course... caching!

The most popular key-value store that developers work with is Redis -- an excellent choice for your distributed cache. I figured we'd get up and running with Docker and Redis in just a few minutes!

These AI Agents Ain't It. Our Developer Jobs Are Safe (for now)!

After spending a bit more time with Cursor trying to refactor code with agent mode, I can say with a high degree of confidence:

Our jobs are safe.

For now, at least. Here's what my AI agent refactoring experience was like.
